Comprised mostly of apples, these lightly sweet, 5-ingredient apple tots get crispy in the air fryer before being dusted with cinnamon and sugar.
Ingredients
- 4 sweet red apples (about 1 ¾ lbs)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 4 tbsp cinnamon sugar, divided
- Cooking spray
Steps
- Using the coarse side of a box grater, grate the apples down to cores. Discard cores. Line a colander with a tea towel or cheesecloth and set inside a large bowl. Transfer grated apples to colander. Gather ends of towel and squeeze liquid from apples. (You should have about 3 cups grated apples.)
- In a medium bowl, lightly beat the eggs, cornstarch, and 2 tbsp cinnamon sugar until combined. Add grated apples and stir to coat. Shape apple mixture into 1-inch tots (1 tbsp each).
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F. Coat rack with the cooking spray. Working in batches if needed, arrange apple tots on rack in air fryer, spacing evenly. Cook 4–6 min., flipping tots halfway through.
- Add remaining 2 tbsp cinnamon sugar to a shallow bowl. Toss warm apple tots in cinnamon sugar. Serve immediately.
Tips
Toss with more cinnamon sugar, if desired, and serve with vanilla yogurt as a dipping sauce.
